Perlane is an FDA-approved injectable filler comprised of hyaluronic acid.Compared to many other types of hyaluronic acid fillers, Perlane contains larger molecules for a greater volumizing effect and long-lasting results. Perlane restores volume to improve facial folds and wrinkles.
Perlane can be injected beneath the skin to plump up and improve the appearance of facial folds and wrinkles.

PERLANE IN DEPTH
by Bruce Freund, D.D.S.
Perlane produces a super volumizing effect with long-lasting results of up to one year. Since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the skin and other tissues, there is no need to have a skin test before using. It is commonly used for wrinkle correction, diminishing worry lines, smile lines, frown lines, marionette lines and smoker’s lines. Also it can be used for lip enhancement and reducing the severity of nasolabial folds. Other corrections that have been found to work with Perlane are for chin augmentation, filling cheek depressions, redefining lip border and softening acne scars.
The results of a Perlane filler treatment tend to last six months to a year, if either enough volume was injected at the initial treatment or if a second treatment is given within a month after the first injection. This is much longer than the typical results of collagen injections, which may last only 3 months.
PERLANE FAQs
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?
Good candidates for Perlane include men and women who are looking to improve the appearance of facial folds and wrinkles. Perlane is best used on individuals with deeper folds and facial lines or those requiring greater support and/or volume.
HOW IS IT PERFORMED?
The Perlane injection is an in-office treatment which typically takes 30 -45 minutes to complete. To optimize the patient’s comfort, a topical numbing agent and/or dental block may be used. A small needle is then used to inject the Perlane solution beneath the skin.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?
As with any injectable procedures, some swelling and possible bruising may occur after treatment with Perlane. While patients can immediately return to work and other normal activities, they should be aware that some redness and swelling may be present. Perlane is a safe treatment associated with very few risks.
